I've seen people rave about Killing Eve online and on Twitter. Girl and I finished Barry last night (well, it was the season finale last night), so I think we may pick that up.

Also, seriously guys, watch Barry. It was only 8 episodes and absolutely incredible.

Board Games / Re: Game nights

Unfortunately autumn and I don't have friends at the moment, however my brother in Greenville has a group he plays board games with fairly regularly. It's actually one of his friends that has a massive board game collection (an old HS friend of mine also boasts a large collection. He was in the Air Force in Amsterdam and I guess there's a huge board game convention there or in Germany that helped him build his out. But I digress).

Those guys play a lot of those 8+ co-op type board games and such, but when I visited Greenville for our fantasy draft last year the dude brought over Camel Up, which was a really cool horserace betting kind of game.

The best, though, was Resistance. Its basically like the Mafia game we used to play here. We had...I think 7 people playing. Two of us were spies, the rest were the resistance. Basically, you go on missions, I think there were 7 total. You pick who goes on each mission and some rule determines who gets to pick first. The first mission two players get picked, then three, then four, then back to three and two I think. Now, the other players CAN veto the picks, in which case the next player chooses the squad, but if the picks get vetoed either 3 or 4 times in a row, the spies win.

So, first game, Resistance loses. Second game, me and the drunkest person there are spies. Btw, my 12 year old is there too. When I tell you the screaming match that erupted between me and him when he accused me of being a spy super early in the game continued throughout the game, I tell you no lies.

Finally it came down to the last mission. Kiddo didn't trust me still and they pretty much knew the other dude was a spy, but I was able to put enough doubt on my son's loyalty that after 2 or3 vetoes, it was my turn to pick the mission and they couldn't veto or else the spies would win. Naturally, I chose myself for the mission and thus the mission failed and the spies won.

I've apologized to my son for accusing him of lying and turning everyone against him, profusely, constantly, ever since.

Day 28 - A Game You've Finished Multiple Times

Easy one for me: Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation. And not just on the PlayStation. I bought the complete series for PS3 AND PS4 just so I could play this again and again. It's easily my favorite game of all time, I love the story and the gameplay, even the basically top down camera doesn't bother me. It's one of the few stealth games to actually get stealth right, and it even encourages you to replay as a choice you make in the game will either get you an invisibility cloak for the next play through or a gun with unlimited ammo (or both, if it's your third time through).

Day 27 - A Game You Never Finished

Pretty straight forward. Obviously we all probably have a lot of games we never finished so this can go a lot of places.

I'm going to go with one that's haunted me forever. The N64 just came out. My mom said we could get one but we'd have to sell our NES, SNES and Genesis. So, my mission before that happened was to best Killer Instinct on the SNES with every character.

Then she got us the N64 and it was time to sell the rest. I almost did it too, but the only character I didn't beat it with was the tomahawk guy (can't remember his name. It may even have just been Tomahawk). I even made it to the final boss but lost. Never got the chance to try again.

Day 26 - Favorite Videogame Sidekick

We all hate Navi from Ocarina of Time. Natalia was the WORST on escort missions in GoldenEye.

But who's a sidekick that doesn't suck?

For me, I have to go back to Ocarina of Time and say Epona. She comes when I call for her, she's super fast and makes travelling so much easier, and I can still attack enemies even while on horseback.

lol oh, I heard talk, didn't know it was definite.
ok then, I was going to suggest Burnout, but since they had a reissue recently, lets go with The Sopranos.
The first attempt was absolute crap, a pure cash grab. Poorly thought out gameplay design, shitty graphics, even for 2006....or was it 2007? I think it was right as the series ended, or right before. In any event, it truly sucked.
2 gaming console generations later, and storytelling becoming central to games now, I think someone could really come up with a top product in a genre that is sorely missing from the industry.

Better?  8)

I would absolutely play a Sopranos game that takes place after the finale. Firstly, we would confirm Tony's dead (he absolutely is, btw), secondly, I feel like the power void that leaves could set up a very interesting storyline. Plus, imagine driving in your car, GTA style, through all the scenes from the opening?

That one musta sucked because I don't remember that lol

In that case, Ill go with The Last of Us. Id be interested to see where the story and characters may develop.

You've put me in a pickle here because they ARE making a sequel, although obviously they haven't completed it yet.

Hm........ I'll allow it.

Can I say Destruction Derby?! :-)

You could, except there WAS a Destruction Derby 2, I believe.

Day 25 - A Game You Wish They'd Make A Sequel To

Most blockbuster games these days get a sequel that continues their story. Sometimes, though, there are games that don't. They may have games that are sequels in spirit (think anything by Team ICO) but not a true sequel.

So, what's a game you've played that you loved and wished there was a sequel for, but there isn't (and don't say Half-Life 2 Episode 2 or plain Half-Life 2).

For me, I think a game I would have liked a direct sequel to would have been Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. I know it was based on the novel, still, I feel like there's more stories that could be told about Dash Rendar, and not only that, but the game was fun to play. It was the first fully immersive 3D Star Wars game I'd played, having never played the Jedi Knight games, and switching from Dash to the Outrider to a snow speeder on Hoth was just so cool. I do remember the game getting a bit grindy in the later levels, but that could easily be improved upon.

Oh man. I know this is a homer pick and there's a lot of absolute classics out there. Heck, it's probably not even the number one pick for it's sport. But I have to go with Aaron Boone's ALCS game winning home run.

I remember staying up late that night to watch the game and I swear to you, when he came to the plate I truly just knew he was going to do it.

I will say though, very happy Twitter was here for the Cubs World Series win.

Yeah, I looked at the 20 ticket one, I think I'll be going to 16 games at most, and 2 of those will probably be when my dad and bro come to see the Yankees, so only paying for 14. At best I'd maybe break even.

I uh.....after living in South Carolina for right around 20 years, I'm very excited to live near a pro baseball team, as you can tell from that last post. That was a lot. Many apologies.

Yeah, I've only gone to Opening day, and then I went this past Friday and Sunday to see Shohei hit and pitch. Got the Han Seago bobblehead on Friday (my kid loves those, and the exclusive Pop! figures).

Yeah, I...pick my games based on the promotions......Well, a combination of what are they giving away and who's playing, anyway.

I gotta get that Nelson Cruz Funko though (got kiddo the Felix one last year, plus I get to see the Rays) and those Cano and Cruz wine stoppers (I think that's against the Twins).

So far, between last year and this, I've seen the Mariners, Yankees (multiple), Indians (multiple), Angels (multiple), Astros (multiple) and Rangers, I think. Actually, I might have seen the Rangers twice, I can't remember. While I was working with Comcast last year they did an awards event where we got to watch the game from the suite, although my entire store basically just went down to Edgar's, haha.

Anyways. I'm eyeing Rays, Twins and Tigers, obviously, and I may try to catch a game against the Athletics, Royals (a Paxton bobblehead and a Mariners throwback cap on a Saturday then Sunday?! How do I decide which game to go to?!), Blue Jays, Rockies, White Sox, Dodgers and Giants games all later this year.

Oh, and the Red Sox on fireworks night with kiddo. Hopefully the Mariners crush them.
