Stayed off of social media to avoid Star Wars spoilers (hey, that's important stuff), but news of this pending merger Thursday almost had me jump back on, spoilers be damned (but it didn't). Still needs to pass federal approval so who knows where this all ends up...but Disney could own the rights to a bunch of franchises like The Simpsons, Planet of the Apes, and The X-Men.

Remaining under Rupert Murdoch's control are FS1, FS2, Big Ten Network, Fox Business, and Fox Propaganda.

Of interest to those that watch sports, this merger also makes some waves: Disney owned ESPN now has the potential of building a local base with the acquisition of the Fox local sports networks.

"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity." - Martin Luther King, Jr

Mickey Mouse just keeps insisting that it wants to ruin things I like.  If I stop liking something, they'll find something else I like to ruin.

As much as I want Marvel to get their movie rights back, I hope this fails, mega corps are bad.

I only care for Marvel to have the Fantastic Four. I'm sure they'd surprise me and successfully incorporate the X-Men into the MCU, but I just think that's TOO much. I like that they have their own universe.

But the FF would obviously be a great addition to the MCU.

Marvel studios has already mentioned that Deadpool and Xmen are coming into the fold.  The good news is we will finally get a good FF?

Im nt concerned at all about the Marvel aspect of it

BojackHorsefella

Well, that's sort of what I meant. I just need Disney to get the rights to the FF. I don't need them acquire the entire studio.

I think there'll never be a good FF.  The cartoons were never successful either.  It's just the lineup is so bland.  They each have one or two powers, and they're pretty stupid as far as powers go.

rollntider

If anyone can get the FF to be its disney.

I like the FF story line. The constant reboots and bland stories  they chose made them terrible.

I liked the future foundation

I was flabergasted as to why the hell the "new human torch" looked like a black and white Spiderman, only to find out that it actually is friggin Spiderman.  Marvel doing whatever they can to try and drum up interest in F4, I guess.
