Ah yes, the 'they were asking for it' argument. My favorite.  ::)

I love how the argument for some seems to focus on "well they shouldn't have taken those photos" instead of "wow, someone must be a real piece of shit turdburglar to try to hack into someone's private property and take it". It's blaming the victim and it's utter bullshit.

Did Apple fuck up? Yeah, probably. Let them fix it, and they probably will-I for one hope so. But hey, the Apple haters got another reason to jump for joy, yay, good for them.
"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity." - Martin Luther King, Jr

not my point at all, with all of the stuff getting hacked, credit cards, target, home depot etc... why did they upload the files or not delete them. Nothing is hack proof. I don't care what apple says, nothing is hack proof.  Me calling them morons is that they deleted them from the phone (most of them) but left it on the cloud.

Thats like me leaving $100,000 on my front seat of my car, in plain view with the doors locked. Did I ask for it? no I did not, but I was a moron for putting it out there to be easy prey. The "turdburgler" as you put has to break the window and makes off with the goods.

Apple, or whomever nothing is hack proof,  unless you are on a closed circuit network with no outside access.

I never said they asked for it, I said they were morons for not deleting all the copies of the photos, not just from their phone.

Well, I'm willing to play parlance to the "they were asking for it" argument.  Why in the name of Doug Stanhope would you take naked photos of yourself with an internet enabled device?  Why would you UPLOAD photos of yourself with an internet enabled device, regardless of privacy settings?

It's just utterly stupid.  If I were to take naked photos of myself (I wouldn't, because it's stupid, if I want to see myself naked I'll take my clothes off in privacy, I don't need some photos of myself to see that), I most certainly wouldn't use them with a camera phone, I wouldn't store them on a smart phone, and I wouldn't do it with a device that is capable of internet telecommunications.

It's stupid, it's mind boggling.  And if you want to show someone else your body -- GO TO THEIR HOUSE AND DO IT.  The internet wasn't invented two years ago, it's not new technology, and no one is really surprised by ANYTHING on the internet any more.  So why, then, would a celebrity think "this is a good idea, nothing can possibly go wrong!" when they upload nude photos of themselves?  Even if you don't intend to upload them, putting them on your smart phone (including one which automatically uploads photos) is stupid.  It's utterly stupid.  It's not even "oh that's a bit of a risk," it's moronic.

I don't give an out to the hackers and the crackers and the exploiters who gain access to them,  they'll likely get a hefty fine that they can't possibly pay, some kind of jail term that they'll get out of early for good behaviour, and a legal ban on technology for the next 5-10 years after they get out.  That is, IF they are in the United States.

We live in an age of high technology, and low responsibility.  Every boy and girl with a bit of money does things that are utterly inconceivable, and think that it's perfectly acceptable.  If something should go wrong, place all responsibility on the shoulders of someone else, because you didn't put yourself into that predicament by setting it up to be so easy, now did you?  Oh wait, YOU DID.

If you live your life, thinking that the law and order will keep you safe and narrow on your daily, you're absolutely in trouble.  You might think "I have the right of way, no need to look to see if someone ran the light/sign."  Oh, now you're dead, because they couldn't or didn't stop.  My father describes this as "dead right," and I couldn't help but agree.  If your answer to the problem is "THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BROKEN THE LAW, IT'S NOT MY FAULT!" then you're a cadaver waiting to happen.

What gets me at the people outraged this happened, while more than likely their CC info was stolen at the Target Breach, Sony Breach, or the new one, the Home Depot Breach. Yet the FBI is investigating nude photos being stolen, while my CC info(and millions of others) are stolen monthly it seems like, and nothing is done.

Pretty much goes back to what I was saying about money.  If you're someone who is rich, they can't go after the person who wronged you fast enough, even if they didn't actually wrong you.  You have money so anything you say must be true.

But if you're a working class stiff, they can't get you out of their hair fast enough.  I chose to omit it from my diatribe because it felt a bit heavy handed, though.

I dont adopt the argument they shouldnt have done it if they didnt want it public, but, they shouldnt have done it if they didnt want it public..
Offenders should be fully prosecuted, as should all offenders to tiders point.
That aside, what outrages me is the utter hypocrisy and unbelievably fake moral high ground by the media and I mean ALL of the media.
We all know there are leaks all the time and we know they are treated differently, just as citizens are treated differently, if you have money, or dont as the case may be
It sounds cliche but like the adage goes its a cliche for a reason....maybe because its true?
Look at all the other celeb/athlete/public figure hacks. Who was the guy that was hacked and outlets like Huffington made fun of the poor bastard and even constructed polls on how hot he was?  JFC on a popsicle stick.
I hate that I get so incensed about this and its not because I dont feel for JLaw or Kate or any other because I do, but son of a bitch, show some consistency, some integrity and oh I dont know, how about a shred of journalistic ability?
This instance is the Streisand effect gone insane.  You honestly think all those rubes and I mean 100% of them writing those holier than thou youre going to hell for looking at those pics you rapist thug articles havent looked? Of course they have.  They tell you in the fucking article what the nudes are of for christmas sakes.

Ok, fuck it, nothing I can do about it but rant and I did that, so I feel better I guess.
And Ill add its not just this, its fake moral outrage over anything. You see that a ton in politics but lets leave that out...

Ill add....those that may not know; a lot of the pics were posted on imgur a pic sharing site and linked to from reddit by members.  After some hot headed feminist militant ravaged everyone participating, some orchestrated a drive to donate money to the prostate cancer foundation.  The foundation rejected it.
Seriously? Fuck these dying patients, we will not take your money since you looked at an unauthorized naked picture of Kate Upton.

Im genuinely at a loss for words....

ok, not really but you get the point....

It's a matter of pride, which is a stupid thing.  "We refused the money of these degenerates, because of their transgressions, we're such beautiful special snowflakes."  Pride is meaningless, because it mostly just gets you killed.

Regardless, I looked at the pictures, and my response is "meh."  I'm not sure if I was supposed to go "WOW, SELENA GOMEZ TITS" or something.  I've seen plenty of boobs in my lifetime, I'll probably see plenty more before I check out.  I honestly don't see the appeal of any of these pictures.  I looked at them, and none of them made me react in any way.  You can throw in a Ryan Gosling schlong for all it matters, regardless, celebrity nudes are always such a stupid thing because they get treated as such a taboo and amazing thing, and in the end, it's just nudity.  Even sex, it's just sex.

Most kids have seen way worse, and it's not like you can't see something better that's both uncomfortable and perfectly legal for free on your local neighbourhood porn site.  A lot of fuss about something that wouldn't be such a problem if people would stop treating sex like it's the holy grail of taboos.

It just baffles me they would reject donations that stem from something that isn't even the fault of the ones donating.  And they are going to stand there holier than thou and present a so called standard that decrees not one of them have snuck a peek at the famous tithes?
Get real.

To your point, I was sorta meh too.  One thing these leaks always do for me though, it just confirms that these people are just regular folks too. they look like everyone else, they act like everyone else, aside from the fact they were hacked, the pics themselves are no different from the myriad of people that post nudies every day.
As you described and I ranted, it's the hypocrisy that frustrates me.  The preacher who rages against gays then we find out, oh, he's gay. The teacher who looks at porn, the politician who cheats, visits a hooker, tweets selfies and on and on.
I know I'm preaching to the choir so Ill refrain lol

lol @ the cop thing.  I swear I wanted those guys to regenerate their efforts to breast cancer and donate to see what that reaction would've been.  But probably nothing.  Noone acknowledges anything when confronted with facts.

Don't know if you saw the Colbert thing he did on this; but he presented the Huffington post as an ally in the leak scandal and took the stand of the Post saying you shouldn't be looking at the nudes, but hey, got to the section of the Huffington Post we site labeled celebrity sideboob and look at those.

Of course those turds would never comment on such an atrocity...
