#FilmTwitter You have to pick 7 films for a marathon all-nighter, but the rules are:

1) the films must be franchise films & 2) all 7 films must be from different franchises.

What are your 7 picks?

1)Empire Strikes Back
2)Thor Ragnarok
3)Lethal Weapon
4)Batman (Michael Keaton)
5)Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
6)Guardians of the Galaxy #1
7)The Hunt for Red October

2)Thor Ragnarok
6)Guardians of the Galaxy #1

I realize I'm nitpicking, but would we consider Thor and GotG separate franchises, or are they both part of the MCU?

Also, am I allowed to pick Batman (1989) and The Dark Knight, even though they're both DC/WB, and both Batman, but separate?

It's nowhere near that important, right? Alright, anyways, my 7:

1) The Godfather
2) Jaws
3) Ghostbusters
4) Vacation
5) Alien
6) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (I'm going MCU, singular)
7) Mad Max: Fury Road

So, we start off pretty thoughtful, introspective, and dark, with The Godfather. Inject a little hope into the equation with Jaws, still fairly dark. It's getting later in the marathon, so lets pick things up a bit with Ghostbusters and Vacation, get some laughs in. Now, it's getting later, you may have started falling asleep a bit, so lets terrify that sleepiness out of you with a pure horror classic with Alien. After, we're going to increase the action and levity with Cap America, and finish it out with pure adrenaline in the form of Fury Road.

I tried to not go all superhero, and yes, I've left off Star Wars, but I still feel like Cap covers that same ground, to an extent. Debated some Mission Impossible films (honestly, Fallout is fantastic) and Casino Royale as well, which is a classic, and obviously a larger franchise, but Alien is just too good for me to leave off.

Good lists both of you, although I'm withholding the penalty flag I was tempted to throw with the MCU. ;)

Now I'm really upset because I'm ticked at myself for not including Karate Kid somewhere on my list.

While I understand the MCU thing I would disagree and say they are there own stand-alone franchises within a larger universe, I will replace GG with Stargate.

Top 5 Movies You Drop Everything and Start Watching When It's on TV

Long subject, fairly self explanatory. Doesn't matter if it's the start of the movie, partly in, halfway, or towards the end, when you're scrolling through the guide looking for something to watch, and you see it, you change to that channel immediately.

(For the cord cutters, just think back to before)

My 5:

1) Jaws - just happened today, which inspired me to choose this topic, but it's not the first time it's happened. Honestly, it might be my "perfect movie," there's so much going on, both on the surface and underneath (no pun intended), and the performances are stellar. I have to see that Indianapolis scene every time.

2) Shawshank Redemption - I imagine we might see a lot of this, since it was, what, TCM that played it all the time? A feel good movie, despite some very, very low points, and one of the few movies where voiceover narration truly works. Iconic performances from Freeman and Robbins.

3) Captain America: The Winter Soldier - had something else here, but this happened last night so I'm editing it in. Still my favorite Marvel movie.

4) The Thing - what more can I say? Similar to Jaws, lots on the surface and underneath here, with an incredible cast, gruesome practical effects, and that score.

...I might need to seek it out to watch tonight, now.

5) Jurassic Park - yup, still. Goldblum. Neil. Dern. Attenborough. Spielberg nails it again, pulling a reverse Jaws and letting you get real close and personal with these creatures. Everyone knows the theme song by now, and everyone also hates Newman as much as Jerry did because of this movie.

Top 5 Movies You Drop Everything and Start Watching When Itís on tv

1. Oceanís Eleven - this movie still manages to make me laugh no matter how many times Iíve seen it. Well written and the casting was perfect for this.

2. Inception - my favorite Christopher Nolan film.

3. Karate Kid - movie was a big part of my formative years, partly because there were some parallels: I moved into a new neighborhood around the time this came out and also had to get used to a new school. Didnít get bullied like Daniel Larusso did, but still heard comments. This movie was an inspiration to me and I never tire of it.

4. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - absolutely love this Edgar Wright film, itís just downright fun. Iím not too familiar with the source material, but to me the movie is great. Casting was great too, and fell hard for Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers.

5. Real Genius - this is easily a top 5 80s movie, and Val Kilmer was at the top of his game in this one.

My list- there will be repeats, sorry

The Quiet Man- Really this goes for just about any John Wayne movie but this one in particular.  I love this movie because it's him but different and very funny.
Caddyshack- one of the best comedies ever made
Inglorious Bastards-  I love this movie, really almost any Tarantino movie would work.  This and Pulp Fiction are his best in my mind
Scott Pilgrim vs the World- I agree with everything that has already been said.  This is a great "fun" flick.  No real thought required.
Any Bruce Lee movie- they are for the most part cheesy and poorly filmed but hey that's kinda why I like them.

Top 5 fast food restaurants

Im classifying fast food as having a drive through, so no Chipotle etc...

1 Whataburger.
It's the best ever, period.

2 Jack in the Box
Its just a go to for me, maybe because i'd hit it twice a day when I was poor and/or in school

3 White Castle
We don't have em in Texas but when I visited Saint Lou some years ago, I was introduced and I devoured it. I completely get Harold and Kumar's obsession now.

4. Wendy's
Whatever you get, top it off with a Frosty

5. Dairy Queen
A southern grill burger joint with great ice cream options

And while Im at it, lets add your worst;

Chick Fil A
I just don't get it. Everyone loves it but me. I see the drive through backed up for. ev. er. and it amazes me.
Plain, mushed bread surround a heat lamped piece of chicken with a lone dime sized pickle and on top of that I have to dress it myself?
Fuck. Off.

Last time I was in Texas a couple of years ago I was really going to try to get to Whataburger but time constraints threw that out the window. Someday...

Top 5 Fast Food Restaurants

1. Taco Bell - there's always room for Taco Bell. Felt that way in high school and still feel that way now...even if I rarely frequent fast food joints now.

2. Culver's - Fast food burger chain based out of Wisconsin. Amazing burgers, they've got crinkle cut fries (my favorite other than tater tots, which I consider a different type of fried potato), and their cheese curds are amazing.

3. Wendy's - Also some pretty damn good burgers.

4. Del Taco - These made it up to Michigan a few years ago. Not bad at all.

5. Burger King - something about their burgers I like.

Chik-Fil-A does not get my business, and Zaxby's is better anyway.

I think Taco Bell is the best bang for the buck for sure!
Ive heard of Del Taco but I don't think we have em here either and Im sorta indifferent to BK. Ill eat there if its closest lol

So, I don't eat meat anymore, but, I used to, so my rankings might end up weird? I dunno, I'm winging it.

1) Cook-Out

Mothereffing Cook-Out, son. Lunch, dinner, after hours, sober, not sober (preferably), you can't beat the amount of food you get for the price you get it. How's the quality? Vs other fast food places, I'd say this is a solid 8/10. Miss this place so much (then again, I don't think they have many options for me anymore).

2) Whataburger

When I was stationed in Pensacola during my Navy stint, I got to experience the heavenly gloriousness that is Whataburger. Top notch burgers and incredible milkshakes. I don't know how much I ate there, but I knew I wouldn't be in Pensacola forever, so we'll just say I made the best of it while I could.

3) Taco Bell

I've learned that this is my go-to craving when I get high, so, that's fun. Before, it was all about the quesarito. I'm an indecisive person, so you give me something that combines 2 options into one, and I am here for it. Plus, it tasted delicious.

Now my orders are more Cheese quesadillas and cheesy potato griller (Unfortunately, I do not like the taste nor texture of black beans or refried beans, which has SEVERELY impacted my intake of mexican style food). Still though: once that craving hits, I gotta have it.

4) Burger King

It's the fiancee's go to, and they've been really good for us since they offer the Beyond Meat vegetarian burger. Super excited about them getting the Impossible Burger nationally soon, I've had it at Red Robin and it was incredible. They'll move up a rank after that.

5) Was tempted to go Pizza Hut here as a "fast pizza" option, but no drive-through, so.....

Popeyes

Obviously not so much anymore, and we didn't even have one in Myrtle somehow until I left (had one back when I lived in Columbia though!), but over Chik-Fil-A, KFC, Bojangles, Popeyes reigns supreme and everyone knows it.
