Chit Chat / Top 5 July 4th Movies
July 04, 2018, 03:36:31 PM
Lets do this:

#1 - Independence Day. Come on, wasn't going to say anything else.

#2 - Jaws. On July 4th, the beaches will be open.

Honestly that's all I came in here with, so, lets see....

#3 - The Patriot? Right? That's not a bad choice.

#4 - The Sandlot. You know the scene, plus, it's baseball. What could be more American?

#5- Born on the 4th of July. I've uh....I've never actually seen it, I just didn't want to use Live Free or Die Hard in the fifth spot.

Pro Football / Tie goes to the ballcarrier
July 03, 2018, 01:25:15 PM
You know, I was watching MLB Network a day or two ago, and they were reviewing a close call at third, whether Acuna Jr had gotten tagged while either stealing third or just stretching a base hit by his teammate by going from first to third, but I realized, and granted it's kind of similar to the "inconclusive" mandate of NFL replay, but what if there was simply a "tie goes to the ballcarrier" kind of thing?

I know the biggest complaint about the NFL is how offense oriented it is already, rules-wise (especially rules regarding WRs and QBs), but I wonder, in matters of, say, the Dez Bryant catch and what-not, if it's possible that simply having a "tie goes to the ballcarrier" rule would filter a lot of that out?

Was the QB's arm going forward when he fumbled or no? Too hard to tell? Tie goes to the ballcarrier.

Did he fully complete a catch? Just CAN'T make a decisive conclusion? Call goes to the ballcarrier.

Am I right, or is "tie goes to the runner" not quite as universally applicable as I think it maybe could be?

Console Gaming Discussion / N64 Mini Classic

This isn't a confirmation, sadly, but it certainly makes it look a helluva lot more likely. The NES and SNES used the same internal software for emulation, essentially, so if this one uses that too it should be just as easy to hack as the first two, in which case, having just done the SNES, I would absolutely have to buy the 64 knowing I could add more games to it.

Chit Chat / The Life Thread
May 14, 2018, 07:04:48 PM
I actually thought about this earlier and just didn't do it, so I promise I didn't conceive of this just to brag. I just think it'd be cool to have a thread where we can talk about our life, either past, present or future (mainly past because I'm in this phase where I'm fascinated with American history, but more from ordinary people than like, watching documentaries with professional historians).

Anyways.

So, my contribution today is a "present" story than a past (earlier I'd thought about doing a "where were you during 9/11" thing, so that's more where my focus was in starting this).

Today, I got engaged. Um, again. But first time to my current girlfriend! And considering she's the first girl that I've dated and never broke up with, Im pretty confident this will stick. It'll be 2.5 years in June and everything's been great (I've had more than enough bad so I can easily recognise good these days), and that's that. So yeah.

Anyways, I think this will be a cool thread for life events and reflection or future plans. Ive never been to Michigan, I could listen to Norm spin tales about his college days in here. Hearing Crewe's stories from Texas and his many adventures. I enjoy Tider's stories about his family and I enjoy hearing his perspective from his Alabama roots. So hopefully we can all share here and, maybe one day no one will come to this place but all our tales will be here.

Chit Chat / 30 Days of Video Games Thread
April 17, 2018, 12:00:40 PM
Alright, I'm doing this. Lets hope I don't run out of ideas for all 30 days.

Let's start simple.

Day One: The First Video Game You Can Remember Playing

So, this isn't owning, this is playing, and it can be anything, whether it was Donkey Kong at the arcade or Donkey Kong on console, if it's a game that's on a TV that uses some sort of controller scheme, it counts. Even those little handheld Mattel ones from back in the day.

Anyways, the first game I can remember playing is from the Atari...2600, I believe? It was called "Freeway," and was basically Frogger, but with a chicken.

Console Gaming Discussion / MLB The Show 18

I've pretty much already decided to buy this since I skipped 17, which seems like a good idea because all the new gameplay and presentation stuff has sounded great. They finally revealed the new RTTS enhancements and I'm still good to go.

The fun part was the guy saying "in past years, you'd have good at bats and by the end of the game you'd have 600, 1000 points to just put in whatever stat." HAHAHAHAHAHA, I wish that had ever happened.

Baseball / 2018 Off-Season/Season
January 12, 2018, 03:51:34 PM
Guys, I can't wait. Already bought my ticket for opening day at Safeco. I said I wouldn't go to any games with visiting teams that I already saw last year, but I didn't make the schedule and I'm not missing Opening Day, so, Indians it is then.

That being said, as far as my actual team goes, I'm obviously liking the Yankees lineup, I'm just hoping them and the pitchers can stay healthy, and Tanaka can get off to a better start than last year.

Baseball / RIP Roy Halladay
November 14, 2017, 05:20:28 PM
Watching the Celebration of Life on MLB Network right now. I still can't believe it honestly. An amazing career, an amazing person by all accounts. My buddy Josh was a Blue Jays fan, so all I ever heard about was how great he was. Playing MLB against each other, I hated the fact that he had Halladay (Sabathia always seemed easy to hit). Certainly I never thought then that this dominant player and impressive person would be lost so early in life.

Chit Chat / Hey, do you all want to feel old?
October 25, 2017, 11:27:40 PM
When I joined BSB back in the day, I wasn't even 18 yet. Maybe been 16, 17 when I first started, I think.

I turned 30 back in May.

So, just bought both of these. No deals or anything, I'd been wanting Crash and Sonic Mania has been getting great reviews and I had some extra money so figured why not.

Haven't had much time to play yet (just got them yesterday) but Sonic feels like Sonic 2, plays like it, looks and sounds like it which is really the best praise I can think to give.

And I loved the Crash games when I was a kid, and apparently still love them now. The graphics overhaul is amazing. I've hit that issue where the physics are a bit off on the jump landings, but it's nowhere near as bad as it's been made out to be online.

So far, satisfied with the money spent.

Introduction Thread / Hullo friends

Now, I know what you're thinking: his name is Bucfever but he has a Jets logo.

I have renounced by Buccaneers fandom until Jameis Winston is gone. That being said, it doesn't look like that'll be anytime soon, so I've fallen on my brother's and dad's Jets fandom in the meantime.

Also I live in Seattle now.

Sup fellas? Been some time.
