...silver bracelets with a chain linking them, anyway. This should be a fun one to watch.

QuoteThe FBI conducted an elaborate undercover operation, starting in 2015, and managed to keep it a secret. The NCAA wasn't made aware of the investigation until Tuesday morning. Using wiretaps, surveillance video, undercover agents and cooperating witnesses, the FBI was able to document coaches accepting bribes to steer their players to certain financial advisers and/or business managers. In other cases, high-ranking Adidas employees worked with others to pay prospective student-athletes' families to ensure the players signed with Adidas-sponsored schools and then signed with Adidas once they turned pro, the complaint alleges.

FBI assistant director Bill Sweeney had a warning Tuesday for other coaches who might be involved in similar schemes, saying: "We have your playbook. Our investigation is ongoing. We are conducting additional interviews as we speak." The FBI and U.S. Attorney's office said they have established a hotline for information related to the investigation.

Unnamed in the charges (so far, anyway) but referred to in the documents is the University of Louisville and Rick Pitino.

QuoteThe FBI complaint against Gatto and others also included a reference to a "public research university located in Kentucky," identified as "University-6" in the complaint, and University of Louisville interim president Gregory Postel confirmed in a statement it is the school mentioned. There was also a reference to a private research school in Florida, and sources told ESPN it's the University of Miami.

"Today, the University of Louisville received notice that it is included in a federal investigation involving criminal activity related to men's basketball recruiting," Postel said in the statement. "While we are just learning about this information, this is a serious concern that goes to the heart of our athletic department and the university. UofL is committed to ethical behavior and adherence to NCAA rules; any violations will not be tolerated. We will cooperate fully with any law enforcement or NCAA investigation into the matter."

The allegations against the unnamed school in Kentucky include payments of $100,000 from Adidas to the family of an unnamed player, identified as "Player-10," to ensure him signing with the school.

As per usual, Rick Pitino says he didn't know anything.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The $100,000 payout may most likely be referring to the recruitment of this guy, a player that looked to be a very solid Michigan State/Izzo lean before it strangely changed to Louisville.

If all of these allegations prove to be true, I agree with Pat Forde - Louisville deserves the death penalty.

"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity." - Martin Luther King, Jr

Is anyone surprised of one of the schools listed?

Auburn every decade I have been alive has been either in a scandal or accused of a scandal. They have 2 national titles in football, the first one they could not participate in the bowl because they were on probation for buying players, the 2nd they were under investigation for Cam Newton miraculously signing with them after never setting foot on campus.

Their 2 undefeated seasons had allegations or were on probation (93 on probation) and 04 (Accused of buying players)

Pearl was hired under a show cause by the NCAA. They beat UConn out for a player year before last, after not showing any improvement. We got a 5 star in sexton only because Avery was on him when he was a 3 star and dude blew up the rankings.

Its pretty bad... Louisville will get rocked pretty bad also.

Lol...less than 20 seconds separated our posts.

College hoops is pretty dirty in general, and the FBI is ready to come crashing down hard. Good.

Everyone always knew this was happening and it's been going on forever. I'm shocked that the FBI's actually getting into it.

The NCAA may have looked the other way in the past (psst: they have), but it doesn't look like the FBI's going to let them continue that.
