Pro Football / Re: Michael Sam and Tony Dungy

If we are taking Dungy's quote as is, then I agree with Bret.
Moreover, he was asked a direct question and he answered it.
But, to norm's point, he's right, this doesn't fall in line with Dungy's history ala Vick.
This may very well have been his way of saying he wouldnt take a gay guy based on his beliefs and it may explain the hypocrisy.  I don't agree with the black guy not generally being gay, expected to be q family man etc...well, I just disagree with all of that, but, it's moot to the argument.
I don't blame Sam at all in any fashion for any of this whirlwind.
If I were guessing, he probably did it for a myriad of reasons, one of which, to get ahead of the media.  It would have been abundantly worse if he stayed in the closet and then the yellow journalists discover he's gay after the fact.

I think the locker room will ultimately be fine like norm described.
the nature is, as noted, is one of machismo run amuck.  Having been in blue collar jobs and locker rooms, we all know that you find the weak guy, pick on him, haze him, jack with him, harass him, whatever you want to call it, but thats the gist of the situation. Doesnt mean we dont like them and all that.  With Sam though, it's going to be different, even better I'd think because of the scrutiny.  People are going to be careful and mindful of what they say and do, and yea, didnt seem to hurt them at Mizzou.
I cannot believe its 2014 and we are so freakin up in arms about this.  Cant we get back to the regular crap this stupid country obsesses about like, well...I guess... gays.  Nevermind.

Dexter was hugely disappointing.
The worst of it is that they had it set up for a really solid finish

norm, thats one reason why i wait for a show to get three or four seasons ahead.  If it's canceled, then Im not vested.  Secondly, it allows me to see if the show holds up, i.e. great first season, but poor second third or fourth.... etc...
Thats why I waited four seasons on Dexter, SOA, GoT, BB and the like.
Plus, I could power through at my discretion   :-)

Ive been a binge watcher since the "24" days.
I like to let a show get a good three or four seasons in before I consider adding it to my qeue.
Some, like SOA, I caught up with and watch after each season ends so I can blow through without stopping.
If I am all caught up, like now, Ill go with a brief run of something like American Horror Story, but usually I will fire up a long running sitcom ala Cheers, The Office, and watch again from beginning to end again until some of my other shows pass me by.

I did! I ate, I drank, I drank, I even ate again and, believe it or not, I even worked this weekend too.
All in all, good stuff.  Now, to the gym...

I think it'd be good for Texas' first season post Mack Brown era
Nothing lik a beatdown to show how much woe lies in front of you.

So Im done with season 5, won another WS with Seattle.  Thats 2 out of 3 years now.
Final numbers
.318 BA / 123 RBI / 32 HR / 77 SB / 87 walks / 4 errors / 24 doubles / 4 triples
Led in runs scored, but don't recall how many.  But over 100.  Led in SB with 77, same exact number as the previous season which I was bummed about.  I really want to break the Lou Brock mark of 115 but I don't think I can.  Forget the Ricky Henderson mark.
I was caught stealing 14 times; 13 the prior season.
I was most proud of walks for which I was 4th in the league with 87.  Most Ive ever had in any version.  Id love to top 100.
BA was .314 the prior season and Im happy with that. Oh and I can't forget the K's!
Only 87 this year as opposed to 98 the previous year.  But I had about 30 more AB's last year too so...
Made my 2nd All Star game and received my 2nd Silver Slugger. Not even in the running for the Gold Glove.  No other awards to speak of.
Stunk it up in the playoffs but I do want to get WS MVP before my career is over.
Id like to nab every award at least once in my career and its off to a slow start, but Im hopeful.
Id also like to aim for a MLB record, but I don't see it happening as they are way too far out of reach.  ideally my guy is bred for the SB record but i don't think I can go long enough, same for the HR and RBI.
Got close to Ichiro's two hundred and something hits record in on season in last version so that might be a target somewhere.
Would love to get the 56 game hit streak and even got on the far side of 25 games in let years version but I just can't see toppling that one.
Ah well, something to shoot for!

Oh and norm, fired up my pitcher again (I just through the AS break in season 1 and got hammered, plus walked three guys just as I told you I never walk anyone lol
Dammit...

keep me posted.
I neglected this one because it seemed to "Uncharted" to me.
playing the "jesus" parts 1500 times until you get over it and on and on, same fighting moves get redundant quickly and especially the duck and cover stuff which is cool, but not when you can take 30 bullets from 5 feet and not die.
Gets old in a hurry.
