Yea, we've all had some good ideas for threads and conversational posts but there's just three or four of us so I just sorta stopped because of inactivity.
I wish I knew people I could invite to start posting on the reg.

A couple of months ago I was thinking about my dad who passed in 2004 and my thoughts rifted to his memorial service and I recalled how blown away I was that my old boss had shown up.
We were friends, as in friends you work with or in her case, for.
She knew what my dad meant to me and when I told her he died, she of course told me to take as much time as needed.
No way she knew his name, or where the funeral was, none of that, but she figured it out and showed up without fanfare, just sincerity.
That made me realize I hadnt talked to her in some time (we last worked together in 05, last spoke maybe in 14?) so I sent her a message and after the how are you's, we began discussing my industry. She had left our business in 05 to sell life insurance.
I told her how things were progressing slowly and how it's hurting financially. I mockingly said, hey, if you hear of anyone hiring...hahaha.
She responded with, well, ya know....
I've been looking to slow down and eventually retire, and how it works in this business is that I get another agent to take over my clients, but the problem is, once a renewal term comes up, they wont share the commissions with me and cut me out, so, Im sorta looking for someone I trust who can come in with me.
In a matter of weeks, I was enrolled in an online course, took the prep course and yesterday, passed my state licensing exam.
Im now able to sell insurance.
It's tough because these guys are just go go go all the time, but for me, I still have to work, especially since everything is at an even more reduced rate right now. But, Im going to try to intergrate as fast as I can and see what happens.
I'll be selling life, health and accident, so we dont delve in to the medical bs, and I know, there are negative connotations with insurance salesman, a lot like a car salesman, but what the hell.
Ill see what happens. Most importantly, I hope I like it. I hope I make more money than my current career so I can make it secondary. It would be nice if I could manage both but in the end, I just want more stability and happiness.
So, here's to what's next...

I like the NWA cover as well, and of course the VH ;-)
But like you said, too many options

The Sinner
Bill Pullman

Three seasons of eight episodes a season with one case per season.
Youre familiar with the adage good, better, best?
The Sinner operates in a backward fashion with regards to their seasons meaning it goes best, better....crappy.

Bill Pullman is a police detective who finds him self always seeking more in a case, or in other words, seeing what's under the surface to a case everyone else sees as open and shut.
Season 1 we get Jessica Biel, who is also EP for all three seasons, who commits cold blooded murder in front of witnesses on a beach.
From the very beginning we are given quick flashes of of the past, but of course we have no idea what it means. The storytelling mode is backwards, or, reveal as you go kind of thing. We are supposed to be putting together pieces the same as our protagonist and it is directed well enough to work, for two seasons.
Pullman's character does have a slow burn 3 series arch which is interesting and while seasons one and two were good, they just tried to go next level on three and missed. I wont see completely because it was actually a good idea, straddling normalcy and madness, question what is and isnt, but they just could not find a good way to demonstrate the third act IMO.
I wasnt going to watch the third because of the reviews, but, decided why not, only 8 episodes, go wtih it.
It wasnt the worst thing Ive ever seen by far but its just not on par with the first two.
Give it a go...

Archive pull...Road House

This movie just gets worse and worse every single time I see it and it's freakin awesome.

You know, I feel pretty guilty because it hasnt been bad for me. I was never without power for more than say, 15 hours. So when the power went out, I just wallowed out a warm spot in bed, read a book and hibernated.
A pipe burst at my sisters house so we are having to deal with that, but it wasnt near as bad as it could have been. Course its easy for me to say, wasnt my house.
Im usually reasonably stocked with food just because Im a glutton so that wasnt a problem, plus, its just me and my dog. A lot less stressful I imagine when you dont have a family to worry about.
This is one time where living in the burbs was a benefit because Houston was hit hard. All my friends were in pretty bad shape for most of the storm.
As soon as we get a plumber to my sisters and get an estimate, we will be pretty much recovered.

Appreciate the check in dude  :D

Sounds like we are on the same page lol
That's what I was hoping to at least get across, that you cant take it seriously and if you can ascend over that note, you'll have a good time.
Incidentally, the Uncut Gems reference...I liked the film too, although, seeing an anxiety ridden show like that as my norm, I probably wouldnt sign up.

Back to search party, keep me posted; I wanna hear what you think about the rest of it

Crime Scene
Case of Elisa Lam and Cecil Hotel

This is a 6 part series on the infamous Cecil Hotel in LA and the death of a Vancouver student tourist.
The crux of this show revolves around the elevator video we've all seen and how Elisa Lam wound up dead in a water tank on the roof of the hotl where she was staying.
Ill shortcut this by saying, if you love internet sleuths who are so fucking narcissistic that they believe their irrational thoughts and quirky fallacious questions and summations are somehow relevant, then boy is this the show for you.
More time is given to them than to the police.
If you love watching YouTuber so called sleuths loving themselves, then by all means, check it out. Otherwise? Go play tic tac toe by yourself for 6 hours, it'll be a lot more entertaining.

Completely down for her as a replacement. 👍🏽

Would be interesting if they wrote her off or reinvented the Dunne character

And that's a wrap on this thread.

I just dont get it man. Throughout her career, she seemed so balanced and genuine.
When I posted the thread, even the he/she stuff going on with her, I thought was just honest confusion, as it was and still is to me, to a degree.
But now I guess I have to assume she guarded her views well and with society changing under Trump, I guess she felt more free to speak her mind.
Which is fine, but like norm says, there are consequences for what you say.

John Hughes

Breakfast Club - So many quotable lines from this film, I can't leave this off.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Might not be a top 5 80's movie for me but definitely top 10.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - Just a great great movie, Steve Martin and John Candy were perfectly cast in this.

Mr. Mom - arguably Michael Keaton's best role. Almost 40 years later and this movie is still great too.

Uncle Buck - first time I saw this movie it was just okay...but it grew on me. John Candy always had great comedic timing.

Haha! Mr. Mom is such a great flick lol It wsa at the top of the list for years

Let's see if this topic will have legs...

Top 5 album covers all time. It helps if you really like the album but not necessary

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac. Iconic, all time, both the cover and the album

Dark Side - Pink Floyd. Enough said

Foreigner - Head Games. Always loved this album and the cover. It was just so....gutsy

London Calling - The Clash. The fact this is an in concert photo is so...punk

Surfer Rosa - Pixies. I love the art direction here, the flamenco dancer is perfect juxtaposition

His receivers let him down.
I was glad to see Tyreek lose and get a dose of his own taunt back in his mother punching face

I was really indifferent to him starting out this year and was kind of interested to see what would happen in TB, but the AB sitch and the PPP loan shit tossed him back down to the lower levels. Fuck him and his greatness. I had more, but this is a football thread so...

Allow me to be whiny complainer here. Yes, the referees.
And you can tell me that it wouldnt have mattered either way but there's no way for you to know that.
Those penalties were at crucial points in the game where it was no where near over. It wasnt even half time yet.
So yea, GTFO with that shit.
I dont care who you are, those were terrible, terrible calls.
Would TB have won anyway? In all likelihood, probably. Still.
These refs HAVE to have some accountability for crying out loud.
Is uncatchable pass still a thing? Because neither of those were catchable btw.

All that said, I feared TB defense was going to be out to shut down KC. I thought they would be able to overcome with all of their weapons, but it wasnt to be.
Andy Reid didnt call a great game either. I wonder if his attempted manslaughtering shit head of a kid was messing with his head all game?

On a nicer note, the blue gatorade prop beet saved my monetary investments this Super Bowl so there is that lol

I love seeing these videos when the players find out they've made it into the Hall of Fame.

Megatron is easily one of the best I've ever seen play the game. His combination of size, speed, and agility were an absolute joy to watch. Yet another guy that chose to retire in his prime instead of playing another second for the Lions...I'm fine.

Really, I'm fine.

Ah, Charles Woodson. Thank you for making my senior year at Michigan an absolute thrill, my favorite Wolverine football player right up there with Desmond Howard. Would go on to have one hell of a career in the NFL too. Glad he finally got that Super Bowl ring too, and one of the very few reasons I pulled for the Packers in that game lol.

Woodson was also the guy that sacked former teammate Tom Brady in the infamous 'Tuck Rule' game, and he's made his feelings known quite a few times.

"Let's just get this out of the way," Woodson said Sunday on the NFL Network. "If they make the correct call -- which they did at first, then they overturned it -- this (10)-game playoff streak that Tom Brady has? It never happened. Tom Brady owes me his house. I'm the reason why he's married to who he's married to. I'm a reason for a lot of that. Everything. Because they overturned that call."

"Tom. C'mon now. 'Fess up. It was a fumble. It's still a fumble."

A few other guys also made it into the Hall of Fame yesterday, but whatever.  ;)

Hey, I get alumni devotion and all, but easy there....lets not diss Drew Pearson  :D
