Whoo-hoo!!!!

Judging by the Texas A&M/South Carolina game, it's becoming apparent to me that Johnny Manziel was holding the Aggie offense back.*

*or Jadaveon Clowney was the entire Gamecock defense*

Two things:

1. The original date of the draft was set for this Friday night, and I didn't notice that until a couple of days ago-sorry, but f--- that noise. I changed that to this Sunday night (8/31) at 9:15pm ET. If you can't make it, make sure you prerank especially if you don't want to end up with people you find less than desirable (Mike Vick, Ben Roethlisberger, Ray Rice) or just plain not helpful to your team (Eli Manning, Brandon Pettigrew, any Viking not named Adrian Peterson, Tony Romo in November/December).

2. We need one more team to make the league an even 10. If you know anyone that's interested send them the link and have them sign up ASAP.

...and confirmed that it's not true.  >:(

Y'know, when this story came out a few days ago I was really hoping it wasn't a bunch of BS but then thought there's no way someone could implicate another family member (his nephew) in that way. I stand corrected.

Fuck him. I hope he loses his scholarship and gets kicked out.

FYI, I'm assuming it's supposed to be Skirmish Gaming, correct?

Pro Football / Sam Bradford out for season

Torn ACL. On a side note, is it totally bad that my impression of Sam Bradford is based solely on the "NFL QBs on Facebook" satire?

HOLY SHIT YOU'RE ALIVE!

...and hell yeah, do it-I may very well have to make a trip out in 2020, never been to Washington.

Which begs the question: what the f*ck was Al Borges doing the previous three years?????? Doug Nussmeier's already been worth the investment and the season hasn't even started yet.

I love this article so much.

QuoteListen, I have heard Joe Theismann speak on national television. You don't have to be a genius to get yourself an ND diploma. It's Purdue with nicer helmets.

Also: Rudy sucks. Always has, and always will.

Haha, f*ck Washington and f*ck Dan Snyder too.
Yeah, PI is gonna suck for the very near future, but I think one of two things happen: either the refs let up if they can't figure it out, or (more likely) the players adjust. They usually do.
As for not caring: is it because of the myriad rule changes or is it just life in general? I do care, but the Lions turned the NFL into high comedy for me a very long time ago. :D

Pro Football / Preseason Musings

So...is it just me or are the flags flying a mile a minute here so far? Good grief, seems like if you look a receiver funny you get called for it.

Apparently Johnny Doucheball flipped off the Washington bench on his way back to the huddle tonight. I'm totally okay with this.

I know the NFL was only doing it the first couple of weeks, but I liked the experiment of having the XP attempts from further back.

The only downside to this news is if it's true it might just wrap up the division for that cow college in East Lansing unless Michigan can pull off a Mission Impossible there.

The Merriweather job was an absolute...well, you know. And I did add you, just haven't been online playing much lately.

Not saying I agree or disagree...just throwing this out there.

QuoteIt's disingenuous how the primary parties involved have framed the necessity for reform as protecting the virtue of the student-athlete, which in turn allows the NCAA and its member institutions to further perpetuate the myth that they are a nonprofit entity. They want just enough change to stay out of the courtroom and stay away from any potential union affiliation while still ensuring greater TV revenues through the further development of in-house conference cable networks.

But at its core, this battle isn't about permitting peanut butter on a bagel (yes, that was an actual NCAA violation because that constituted a "meal" rather than a plain bagel) or improving what's already a pretty good health-care policy for athletes. This is about the big boys gluttonously seizing more power with the acknowledged understanding that segregating themselves from their little brothers won't satiate that relentless appetite.

College Ball / O'Bannon Case: Judge Rules against NCAA
August 08, 2014, 08:43:05 PM
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/11328442/judge-rules-ncaa-ed-obannon-antitrust-case

QuoteIn a landmark decision, a federal judge ruled Friday that the NCAA is in violation of the nation's antitrust laws by restricting the compensation that major college football and men's basketball student-athletes can receive for use of their names, images and likenesses.

U.S. District Court Judge Claudia Wilken, in a 99-page decision that followed a contentious three-week trial in June, sided with a group of plaintiffs, led by former UCLA basketball player Ed O'Bannon, who sued the NCAA, claiming it violated antitrust laws by conspiring with the schools and conferences to block the athletes from getting a share of the revenues generated from the use of their images in broadcasts and video games.

This is just the beginning. Good.
