Solo

When this was announced I was against it. After Ive seen it, Im still against it.
Ill concede it was better than I thought it would be and Ron Howard and Woody Harrelson had more to do with that than anything.
When it was first reported Alden Ehrenreich was Solo, it was obvious to me, other than the fact we didnt need this story, that this wasn't going to work.
Nothing against him, but he wasn't Solo and its not all his fault. Harrison Ford created a character you cannot replicate. His "it" factor cannot be bottled and this much was obvious. The guy we see in this flick was not Solo. Sure, at times there were flashes of the substance of his character, but then again not really.
If you are immersed in the SW universe, then yes, see it, thats why I did. If not, dont waste your time.
Again, it wasn't horrible and its still better than any of the prequels, although not by much over III, but if its raining outside and you have access to Dominos, give it a go.

Re: Clay Matthews and Tyrone Crawford "penalties"

people wonder why I hate football so much now. Well, there you go.
Go fuck yourself NFL. I have not and will not give one more dime to you via any subscription to watch any game, visit any stadium where I have to pay, buy any of your crap or even donate to your charities because Im sure you're scamming there too.

Jack Ryan

Blew through this one right before Sharp Objects.

I really like John Krasinski and I can get behind him as Jack Ryan, most of the time, but, sometimes, all I see is Jim.
However,
Spoiler
I kinda like the fact that he's not a super bad ass just yet and they really had to temper the "Im just an analyst" personality because it could have been too much. I thought Wendell Pierce (Bunk from The Wire) was a great addition but I hope he's not a one season character.
They did invest a little time in to telling his story so maybe he will be back.

I wasn't overwhelmed but I am interested to see the net installment.

I think I've got about 4 episodes left of this one and really want to finish it off, but got sidetracked by Spider-Man and football season lol.

So yea, priorities lol

I was thinking thats where it happened because that was an obvious plothole if not. I didnt examine the credit scene but I probably should.
I dont recall the specifities in the convenience store scene you're referring to, but I obviously didnt lend it much weight. I am generally on top of these types of shows and am miffed I got swerved lol

so buc, yea, just blew through Sharp Objects and was thoroughly engrossed.
Spoiler
Im still not sure about Alan and although it was obvious to me Adora nor John killed Natalie and Ann, I wasn't ready for it to be Amma. I was so tuned in to Alan and Johns gf, I didnt see that coming at all. Funny thing is, now that I know, its so obvious.
However, we never discovered about the blood found in Natalie's home suggesting her brother was the killer, or I missed it if we did.
Was that where she was killed? I couldn't tell from the quick scenes in the credits.
Finally, two times in this series, the director used Led Zeppelin's In the evening but just the start of the song where Plant sings, "In the evening..." but cuts before the music starts. The fact he used it again in the final scene and let it play was amazing.

Clue (the movie) shows all three possible endings on VHS and DVD, but in the theatre which ending you saw depended on which location you attended

Remember when we used to play the mafia game here? Was it the mafia...? Not sure, but a scene would be described and you had to wildly throw out suppositions and accusations in order to sway your vigilantes to lynch a character until one was left who would then decree if they were who everyone thought they were.
Fun times

I went to Baltimore a few years ago on business and sat in the MASN headquarters which is in the Orioles ball park. Got to tour the stadium from the inside and it was pretty damn cool. A sort of funny story, when we went, the sales rep I was with had a Bama national title pin from the 2009 season. One of the ladies asked how dare he bring in a phillies pin into the O's ball park. He pointed out it was for Bama and they got a laugh over it, Ozzie Newsome happened to be there about something and they took us to meet him. It was pretty cool.

if I could do an MLB park tour, Camden would be up there, but just not much else to do in B-more that I know of really.

I'm the opposite. Been all up and down the east coast and some of middle America (NO, Chicago, Nashville), but I've only been out of the country twice (not including Canada) and one of those times it was in the Navy. I'd like to go to Cabo or Cozumel, Tokyo, New Zealand, Germany and Amstersam. Many many places.

Man, Cabo was my spot for years and years and years. Every time, we went for Sammy Hagar's Birthday Bash out there, thats a great time to go. Last year was the last hurrah in Cabo though, time for something else. If you go, its so easy to just stay at the resort, but if you do, you are missing out on the town. We would stay right on the marina or there was a little hotel, kinda like an old Spanish Mission right across the street from Sammy's Cantina where all the fans would stay. $40-50 a night, no tv in the room but who cares, clean and we only slept there, plus its right in the middle of everything.

Re: Houston v Boston 9/9/18

if you follow baseball, you know the play. Altuve called out at the plate which cost Houston the lead and Boston won in their half of the ninth.
The umpire on the field made a tough call and if you look at it now, you can see how he could've called him out, understandably so because of his angle and the fact it was a close play.
However, that is precisely why the IR exists and that cannot be overstated.
A replay was shown at Fenway almost immediately and even Red Sox fans groaned because they knew. We knew. Everyone knew.
After a ridiculous amount of time, four minutes or so, I told my buddy, they will call him out, this is taking too long.
Sure enough.
My question is, what in the actual fark are they looking at? Seriously?
They had the same view we all had, probably more. There is without a doubt zero question he was not tagged, period.
There absolutely has to be consequences, publicly declared, for the official in NY making this call because it creates a real sense of injustice, favoritism and any other negative aspect you can toss in to this crevice between the league and its teams.
What was the basis for the call? In football, as fucked as it is rules wise, at least they tell you what the hell they are thinking when making a decision.
Shouldn't it be the same here?
There was no rule interpretation such as fan interference which can be a gray area, but this was black and white; it either did or didnt.
Its really exasperating with this crapola.

Oh and to the Boston fans who, with regard to this game, discuss the strike zone and the fact X player would have walked if he didnt have to swing to protect at stake 2 and then Y would have done this and that and we would have won anyway.
That is all moot and any logical person should know that. It is about the integrity of the replay, period! So stop with that shit.
