Title: FINALLY: Pacquiao/Mayweather to fight May 2
Post by: TheNorm on February 20, 2015, 07:15:10 PM
Been waiting years for this, and been waiting years to see Manny prove once and for all that he's the better fighter. Can't wait to see Pacquiao end misogynistic douchebag Floyd's undefeated streak on May 2nd!

While I agree its going to be a great fight, I wish it would have happened five years ago.
I concur with everything you said  :-)

Fight day!!  :woot: You already know where my allegiance lies-so who you got?

Watched a bit of ESPN's First Take this morning, and it makes sense to me why they didn't fire Britt McHenry for her tirade a few weeks ago: firing her would look like utter hypocrisy when they allow Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless on air to utter absolutely stupid shit on air all the time.

Well that was underwhelming.
While I'd admit that domestic abuser Floyd is one hell of a defensive specialist, his style of boxing is boring. And he wants to call himself the greatest of all time? LOL son, you wouldn't even rank. I can think of a bunch of fighters from the 80s that would've swatted you aside.
Manny Pacquiao, what can I say? The end was disappointing for sure but still one of the most amazing fighters I've ever had the pleasure to watch-you may have lost the fight but it was clearly evident you had the crowd behind you all the way. When they call you "The Fighting Pride of the Philippines", it's no joke-that country loves you and so do the millions of transplanted Filipinos all over the world.

Was pulling for Pac but yeah, super underwhelming fight. There was never any way it would live up to the hype, especially considering it happened 5 years later than it should've. Was great that it finally happened though.

Long story short: money talks, bullsh*t runs the marathon.  :P

5+ years ago they were really close but talks fell apart when it came to random drug testing-the domestic abuser wanted completely random testing while Manny was skittish about it because back in 2005 he got blood tested two days before the fight and he felt it screwed him all up prior to his fight with Erik Morales (he ended up losing that fight). Then a few other times they got close but things fell apart for various reasons: the serial batterer of women offered Manny $40million straight up which he refused, then once the misogynistic douchebag bolted Top Rank and HBO for Showtime the promoter for Top Rank (also an asshole in his own right) it made things even more difficult to book the fight.

As has been mentioned in the days since the fight, Manny Pacquiao admitted that he had a shoulder injury...I was skeptical because I thought it was just BS posturing and excuses-I'd rather a fighter admit he lost and move on. Turns out the injury was serious enough that he'll require surgery and probably be out 9-12 months. However, that's not his biggest problem because he could be in some legal trouble for hiding the injury.

While I admire Manny for gutting out the fight (warrior mentality, all that stuff), this is one of those things that would've been nice to know before the fight-there's no way in hell I purchase this fight if I know the injury beforehand, and I'm sure others feel the same way. I'd also guess people that bet on Manny might not have put money down if they knew as well, and that's where the problems come in: what if some of Manny's insiders knew and decided to bet big the other way? I'm not saying it happened but you'd better believe Vegas is going to investigate the hell out of it.

Now this next link is saying that the woman beating dipshit is interested in offering Manny a rematch next year, but it is ESPN resident imbecile Stephen A. Smith as the source so take that with a grain of salt. And to be quite honest with you, this rematch if it does happen should take place on Dancing With the Stars or some new reality show about the best huggers in the country because that's all it'll end up being again (because Floyd's a coward).

So did I insult the people that needed to be insulted enough? Let me know.  :D

Man I'm not sure I really want to see this fight again when they're both a year older, haha.

So Im out $100 and really sorta meh.
Forrest Mayweather is not the greatest as he so wants you to believe, and why not, Ill start there.
When he trashed Ali by saying  (paraphrasing) you call him the greatest when he just laid on the ropes and let an opponent punch himself out and then picked the bones...
Well, first off Forrest, hows that any different than what you do? Secondly, you werent getting punched by Foreman. Thirdly, you dont take on all comers. Fourthly, you dangle and delay fights until you get jevery advantage so you can coast on to Mrrciano's record. Fifthly, you beat women.
I could go on....well, I will...this douche, when confronted by Rachel Nichols in an interview about his abuse, said well, nothing is on video, so Im innocent. Also stated words to the effect that the Ray Rice video was blown out of proportion and wasnt that big ofa  deal.
BAck to the fight.
The one with the man, I mean....I think it was evident early on that Pac wasnt going to be able catch Forrest and when he did, it was Claude Lemieux time. I didnt like it and I feel jilted, but, its my own fault for thinking I'd see a boxing match.
Ill never get to see anyone put Forrest in his place which is a damn shame because if anyone deserves it, it's him.
All we can do is hope he gets out of boxing really quickly so we can all move on and forget about the wifebeater.
