The more trailers and spots I see of Episode VII, the less I want to see it. Star Wars fans have put up with a lot of crap over the years, from Lucas tinkering with the original movies to releasing a half-baked trilogy that invalidates most of the stuff that was part of the Saga. Then Disney waltzes in, announces that all EU is non-canon and erroneous and decides to hamfistedly release a movie without any understanding or appreciation of what the franchise is.
I've decided that the only Star Wars that matters to me is the original trilogy and the EU. Screw Mickey Mouse.
I think you are wrong, they wholeheartedly understand what the EU is all about, at least what I read seemed to indicate that.
In any event, it apparently not being directly tethered into VII ticked off a lot of folks, but not me.
The original trilogy will always be first with me. I gave I-III a chance and it failed. I will give VII that same chance because SW is a huge part of my personal culture as I grew up with it and will be ne of the ones to have seen every original release in theaters.
Depending on how these films turn out, I can incorporate them into my EU or acknowledge them as footnotes, much like the prequels.
Oh and for no particular reason I'll add I typically avoid teasers and trailers of films I truly want to enjoy.
I like what mickey mouse has done with the avengers and guardians, so VII will get a chance from me.
I am being dense what does EU mean? Its late forgive me
I'm guessing EU=extended universe, or something to that effect.
And I'm pretty much in agreement-I'm giving this movie a chance, and can't wait until it drops in December. Everything I've seen so far is entertaining and I want to see more.
I actually didn't mind the prequels. I'm really excited for this.

me neither, I thought they could have been better.... but they were not that bad. Just cut out the love scene dialogue and its 20% better.

Same here.
However it did feel to me that episode 3 was rushed. Lucas could have put a bit more effort into it.
the prequels had the nostalgia vote from me and I think III was the best of them and although they werent horrid, sans II, they certainly didnt live up to what I wanted them to be or what they coulda been
Norm's right, EU is extended universe.
