Day 24
A film created from a book you enjoy that met expectations

Another topic that should produce great options.
For me, The Godfather comes to mind, Goodfellas, The Shining, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Stand by Me, The Firm...all favorites.
So as not to flood this thread with the same choices, Ill omit Goodfellas, and was really close to going with Stand By Me, but Ill go with Jackie Brown.

Gotta be The Green Mile. If I recall correctly there were like, two small changes, but otherwise it was a completely faithful and superbly acted adaptation.

Crazy to think Michael Clarke Duncan isn't with us anymore.

Lord of the Rings. All three of them were phenomenal, and really captured the true essence of the story.
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.
Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would.

The Hunt for Red October didn't just meet expectations, I actually think the movie adaptation excelled over the book. This movie turned into one of my all-time favorite submarine/spy thrillers...the book was good but nowhere near the best in the Jack Ryan stories.
"But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity." - Martin Luther King, Jr

Day 25
Your favorite documentary

I watch a ton of doc's and Im sure some will be mentioned here that Ive forgotten about, but for now, there's two that vie for my top spot.
No no: A documentary - story of Dock Ellis throwing a no hitter while on LSD
Tower - an animated doc about the shooting massacre at the University of Texas.
I cant decide, so Ill leave those here.

Would've been Lord of the Rings for me as well. Otherwise The Hunger Games actually did a very good job of this.

Day 25
Your favorite documentary

I don't watch many documentaries at all so the number of choices here is limited for me. Though the one that comes to mind is Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Immediately went out and got sushi after watching this, and obviously need to visit Japan someday.

Hoop Dreams.

I don't watch very many, so I guess I'm going to have to go with Brooklyn Dodgers: Ghosts of Flatbush

Day 25
Your favorite documentary

Fat Head, basically proved Morgan Spurlock was full of shit.  Which I suspected to begin with. If you get a chance watch it, makes you question the lipid hypothesis based on facts.

I liked fathead, but the problem with nutrition, or anything for that matter these days, all arguments are based on extremes.

exactly and I think Fathead tries to hammer that point home.

Day 26
Favorite musical

Im not a big fan of musicals and really the only one I can think of that would qualify that I liked would be Grease

BojackHorsefella

I've seen a few. I think I have to go with Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd here, as that's one of just two musicals that I actually have the soundtrack on my phone (the other being The Greatest Showman which, while I liked it, is definitely not the best musical).

Day 25
Your favorite documentary

Kurt & Courtney, by Nick Broomfield investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Kurt Cobain, and allegations of Courtney Love's involvement in it.

Day 26
Favorite musical

Rocky Horror Picture Show. A classic in it's own right, and a film that doesn't take itself seriously.
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.
Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would.
